Some very sad news to report: the inventor, developer, and founder of Melem

as the manufacturer and distributor of Melem in Croatia, Ninko Niksic, passed away July 17, 2009. He is survived by his wife Vlasta and a sister. They were like a family to us.  How we came to import and distribute Melem in the US is a matter of a small world.  Our family was engaged in helping the Croatian Children's Hospital with supplies and money through our involvement with Rotary International soon after the end of the Balkan Wars in 1996.Dr.Muftic was interviewed on Croatian TV on our trip to Zagreb. Ninko caught the broadcast and contacted us via the Zagreb Rotary Club and asked if Dr. M was indeed the same one who lived across the street in Zagreb before World War II.  Yes...and old playmates were united.  Between the days in Zagreb, World War II and the Communist regime caused Ninko and Vlasta to relocate in Australia, where Ninko, a chemical engineer, invented Melem and began manufacturing it.  About 20 years ago, as the Communist regime permitted more private sector manufacturing, Ninko and Vlasta returned to Zagreb, where he marketed Melem under the name of Zagrebaska Melem.  It became a standard product carried by pharmacies and used in the hospitals.

Dr. M's wife Felicia, an American with extensive consumer affairs and regulatory

rules and regulations, State and Federal, experience, tried out Melem on herself and discovered it was the only product that ever stopped mosquito bite itches. She then began using Melem as a makeup base and then found it was very effective on grandchildren's diaper rashes.  The rest is history.

We are on line, selling Melem to retailers, and import it with pride from Croatia.
